2/4/2026

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, the following statement:

Recently, several fraudulent robbery incidents occurred in the capital, Beirut, carried out by an unidentified individual impersonating a security officer. His operations targeted a number of people, whom he deceived into believing that he was a security agent assigned to pursue wanted individuals and traffickers of drugs and counterfeit currency. He would search them, and upon finding money in their possession, he would seize it and flee to an unknown destination.

Following this, the competent units of the Internal Security Forces initiated procedures to identify and arrest the perpetrator. As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch identified him as:

M.H. (born in 1992, Syrian national)

He has more than 50 prior records for crimes including robbery, theft, impersonation of a security officer, and drug use.

On 30-03-2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the branch’s patrols succeeded in arresting him in the Tallat El Khayat area of Beirut.

During interrogation, he confessed to carrying out a large number of theft operations within Beirut by impersonating a security officer.

Therefore, based on the instruction of the competent judiciary, the General Directorate is circulating his photo and requests that those who have fallen victim to his actions and recognize him contact the Beirut Information Branch at 01-705127, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures.
