After Stealing a Motorcycle in Dekwaneh, the Beirut Investigation Unit Tracked Down and Arrested the Suspect in Zoqaq El Blat

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat crime and pursue individuals who threaten public security, a video has been circulating on social media showing an individual stealing a motorcycle in the Dekwaneh area by distraction. Following intensive intelligence gathering and investigations conducted by the Beirut Investigation Unit to identify and apprehend the perpetrator, one of the unit’s patrols located and placed the suspect under surveillance in the Zoqaq El Blat area. A swift raid led to his arrest. He was identified as: A. A. (born in 2004, Syrian national). During interrogation and after being confronted with the evidence, the suspect confessed to the theft. He admitted that he had targeted the motorcycle while it was displayed for sale in front of a commercial shop, taking advantage of the shop owner’s distraction before riding away on it. The stolen motorcycle was recovered and returned to its lawful owner. The suspect, along with the seized evidence, was referred to the competent authority for the necessary legal proceedings, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

Gang Behind Theft and Robbery Operations in Beirut and Mount Lebanon: Information Branch Arrests Two of Its Members

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the daily efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces to combat crime, particularly theft and armed robbery across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained information regarding a gang involved in carrying out theft and armed robbery operations in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Accordingly, the specialized units of the Branch launched field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the suspects. Following extensive investigations, the Branch identified several members of the gang, including: B. Q. (born in 1995, Lebanese) R. A. (born in 2006, Lebanese) Following a precise surveillance and monitoring operation, one of the Branch’s patrols arrested the two suspects in Aramoun while they were aboard a white Kia Forte, which was seized after it was found to have been used in the theft and robbery operations. Identification documents belonging to several individuals were also seized. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to participating, together with a third accomplice, in carrying out numerous armed robberies targeting individuals and motorcycles in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, including in BIEL, Costa Brava, and Ramlet El Baida. They admitted using the seized vehicle during the crimes and stated that the second suspect was responsible for disposing of the stolen property. The necessary legal measures were taken against the suspects, who were referred, together with the seized items, to the competent judicial authority in accordance with judicial instructions. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the third suspect involved.

Ghazir Police Station, in Coordination with the Dahr El Baidar Checkpoint, Arrests a Female Suspect for Theft from a Bag in Nahr El Kalb and Recovers the Full Amount

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: A man identified as M. Sh. filed a complaint with the Ghazir Police Station against Z. Y., accusing her of stealing US$11,435 after he had met her at a nightclub in the Nahr El Kalb area. After leaving the venue at approximately 3:00 a.m., he discovered that she had stolen the money from his bag and fled. Following information indicating that the suspect might be heading to the Bekaa, coordination was established with the Dahr El Baidar checkpoint, where she was arrested at around 11:00 a.m. on the same day. A patrol from the Ghazir Police Station subsequently raided her residence, where the stolen cash was found hidden inside the house. During questioning, she confessed to the theft. She was arrested, and the recovered money was returned to its owner, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

The Information Branch Arrests a Theft and Robbery Gang in Bchamoun and Seizes Military Weapons and Ammunition

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ daily efforts to combat crime, particularly theft and armed robbery across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained intelligence regarding a gang involved in carrying out theft and robbery operations in the Mount Lebanon area. Accordingly, the specialized units of the Information Branch initiated field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the suspects. Following extensive investigations and inquiries, the Branch identified the two members of the gang as: H. Q. (born in 1999, Lebanese), with a criminal record involving arms trafficking. M. M. (born in 2004, Lebanese). In a targeted operation, one of the Branch’s patrols arrested the two suspects in the Bchamoun area while they were riding a gray Yamaha NMAX motorcycle without registration plates, which was seized. A search of the suspects and the motorcycle resulted in the seizure of: Four military pistols, five magazines, 73 rounds of live ammunition, and military equipment. Five PAXERA tablets. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the offenses attributed to them. The necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred, together with the seized items, to the competent judicial authority upon the instructions of the competent judiciary.

Traffic Measures in Aley, Ballouneh, and Baalbek from 2 to 4 August 2026 for Sporting Events and Religious Commemorations

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: First – Aley: From 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on 2 August 2026, the ALEY RIDE CLUB will organize a cycling tour through the neighborhoods and streets of the city of Aley. Second – Ballouneh: From 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on 2 August 2026, the Second Speed Race will take place in Ballouneh. Third – Baalbek: Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on 2 August 2026 and until the conclusion of the Arbaeen commemoration ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the road surrounding the Sayyida Khawla Shrine will be closed in both directions, from the Hajar Al-Habla intersection to the Palmyra intersection. In addition, from 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 3 August 2026, until the end of the Arbaeen ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the following roads will be closed: The eastern carriageway of the Riyaq–Baalbek International Highway, from Al-Munzer Sweets in Riyaq to the Al-Jabli intersection. The eastern carriageway of the Baalbek–Hermel Road, from the Harbata intersection to the Al-Jabli intersection. Traffic between Riyaq and Baalbek, and between Baalbek and Hermel, will be diverted to the western carriageway in both directions. Vehicles traveling from Riyaq toward Baalbek will be redirected through the town of Douris via the Shamsine Bakeries intersection and the Douris intersection. Citizens are kindly requested to comply with the instructions of Internal Security Forces personnel and with the traffic signs placed in the above-mentioned areas in order to facilitate traffic flow and prevent congestion.

Mount Lebanon Investigation Unit Arrests Suspect in Haret Hreik for Drug Offenses, Possession of Military Weapons, and Counterfeit Currency

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat all types of crime, particularly drug trafficking and drug dealing, the Mount Lebanon Investigation Unit of the Regional Gendarmerie received information indicating that an individual was dealing narcotics from a van without registration plates in the Haret Hreik area. Following surveillance and monitoring operations, one of the unit’s patrols carried out a targeted operation in the area, resulting in the seizure of the van and the arrest of the suspect, who was identified as: M. M. (born in 1986, Lebanese national), who is wanted under several arrest warrants and judicial judgments for drug-related offenses. A search led to the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle, a handgun, ammunition, a quantity of narcotics prepared for distribution, and six counterfeit US$100 banknotes. The suspect and the seized items were handed over to the competent unit for the necessary legal proceedings, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

Graduation Ceremony for a Training Course at the Martyr General Wissam al-Hassan Barracks – Dbayeh, with the Participation of the U.S. Ambassador

As part of the ongoing cooperation between the Internal Security Forces (ISF) and the United States of America, a graduation ceremony was held on 31 July 2026 at the Martyr Major General Wissam Al-Hassan Barracks in Dbayeh for a number of officers and non-commissioned officers who completed a Tactical Weapons training course under the supervision of U.S. experts from the Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Program. The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Mobile Forces Unit, Brigadier General Tony Matta, with the participation of the United States Ambassador, Mr. Michel Issa, and the Head of the Information Branch, Brigadier General Mahmoud Qobrosli. The event featured a documentary presentation highlighting the different stages of the training course, followed by the presentation of certificates to the graduates. The ceremony concluded with a cocktail reception and a commemorative photo session.

The Information Branch arrests a man who terrorized citizens, physically assaulted them, forcibly entered their homes, and caused a pregnant woman to miscarry.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: Following information received by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces concerning an unidentified individual who had been terrorizing citizens in the Halba area of Akkar District, assaulting passers-by, insulting them, threatening them with a dagger, forcibly entering homes, and destroying their contents, the Branch launched an investigation. His most recent assault occurred on July 15, 2026, when he forcibly entered a house in the town of Al-Qanbar, Akkar, and assaulted a citizen and his pregnant wife. The attack caused her to suffer severe bleeding and resulted in a miscarriage. The competent units of the Information Branch immediately initiated field and intelligence operations to identify and arrest the perpetrator. Following inquiries and investigations, they identified him as: A. T. (born in 1997, Lebanese), against whom a judgment had been issued for discharging a firearm and transporting military-grade weapons and ammunition. On the same date, after careful surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the Branch carried out a well-planned ambush in the aforementioned town and arrested him less than 24 hours after he had committed his latest assault. During questioning, he confessed to the allegations against him. The necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority pursuant to the instructions of the competent judiciary.

The Central Narcotics Control Bureau foils an attempt to smuggle a quantity of Captagon professionally concealed inside children’s beds, and two suspects are arrested, one of them in Kuwait.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to pursue and arrest individuals involved in drug-related crimes, and within the security plan established by the Judicial Police Unit to combat this scourge and curb its spread, airport customs officers seized, on June 26, 2026, a postal parcel containing 4.5 kg of Captagon pills professionally concealed inside a child’s bed. The shipment was intended to be smuggled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a shipping company. The Central Narcotics Control Bureau consequently launched the necessary inquiries and investigations, while analysing the available technical data, in order to identify and arrest those involved. As a result of the investigations, the sender of the parcel was located in the Riad El-Solh area of Beirut. On June 29, 2026, a patrol from the Bureau arrested him. He was identified as: R. A. (born in 1983, Lebanese) Further investigations and close follow-up led to the foiling of another smuggling operation. A quantity of 6.5 kg of Captagon pills, which had been prepared for shipment to Kuwait through a shipping company and concealed inside children’s beds, was seized. Coordination was also conducted with the General Department for Drug Control in Kuwait through the Criminal Security Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon. This resulted in the arrest of one of the individuals involved in Kuwait and the seizure of a quantity of narcotics in his possession. The necessary legal measures were taken against the detainee. Efforts are ongoing, in coordination with the competent judiciary, to arrest the remaining individuals involved.

Internal Security Forces uncover the truth behind the death of a young Syrian man following circulated reports that he had been assaulted.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: Following reports circulated by certain media outlets and social media platforms claiming that a young Syrian man had arrived in Lebanon from Germany, left Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport in a taxi bound for the Masnaa area, and was assaulted by unidentified individuals during the journey, sustaining severe injuries that later led to his death: Investigations conducted by the competent units of the Internal Security Forces established that the circulated reports concerning an assault were inaccurate and that: E. A. K. (born in 2002, Syrian) had taken a taxi from the airport to the Masnaa area on July 26, 2026. Upon reaching the Dahr El-Baidar main road, the vehicle stopped at the roadside and he stepped out. While walking, he lost his footing and fell from the edge of the road, striking his head against a rock and losing consciousness. The taxi driver immediately transported him to a hospital in Aley for treatment. According to the medical report, the injured man arrived in an emergency condition and was unconscious. He was found to be suffering from internal bleeding and skull fractures, requiring him to be placed on a ventilator. He was later taken into the care of one of his relatives and transferred to a hospital in Syria to continue his treatment. The taxi driver was released under a residence guarantee, pursuant to the instructions of the competent judiciary.

The Bekaa Investigation Detachment arrests a man who stabbed his brother in Qab Elias.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: On July 24, 2026, an altercation took place in the town of Qab Elias, Bekaa, during which: A. Q. (born in 2008, Lebanese) was stabbed in the back. He was taken to a hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care. His condition was described as critical. A video documenting the incident was also circulated on several social media platforms. Following extensive inquiries and investigations, a patrol from the Bekaa Investigation Detachment of the Territorial Gendarmerie Unit identified the suspect and located him. He was identified as: F. Q. (born in 2006, Lebanese) Further investigation revealed that he had stabbed his brother during the aforementioned altercation. He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the competent unit so that the necessary legal measures could be taken against him, pursuant to the instructions of the competent judiciary.

The Information Branch arrests a van driver involved in robberies in Halba.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat robberies throughout Lebanon, the Information Branch received intelligence indicating that unidentified individuals had carried out several robberies in the Halba area. The most recent incident occurred on July 14, 2026, when they stole a citizen’s wallet in the Charbila area. The wallet contained a sum of money and identification documents. The perpetrators then fled to an unknown destination in a white van. Following extensive inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch identified the individuals involved, including the driver of the van, who was identified as: A. R. Z. (born in 2004, Lebanese) On July 15, 2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the Information Branch arrested him in the town of Qoubaiyat. During questioning, he confessed to the allegations against him and admitted participating with others in several robberies in the Halba area, including the aforementioned incident. He also admitted to using narcotics. The necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority pursuant to the instructions of the competent judiciary. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining individuals involved.
