The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces' ongoing efforts to combat all types of crime, particularly drug trafficking and drug dealing, the Mount Lebanon Investigation Unit of the Regional Gendarmerie received information indicating that an individual was dealing narcotics from a van without registration plates in the Haret Hreik area. Following surveillance and monitoring operations, one of the unit's patrols carried out a targeted operation in the area, resulting in the seizure of the van and the arrest of the suspect, who was identified as: M. M. (born in 1986, Lebanese national), who is wanted under several arrest warrants and judicial judgments for drug-related offenses. A search led to the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle, a handgun, ammunition, a quantity of narcotics prepared for distribution, and six counterfeit US$100 banknotes. The suspect and the seized items were handed over to the competent unit for the necessary legal proceedings, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

As part of the ongoing cooperation between the Internal Security Forces (ISF) and the United States of America, a graduation ceremony was held on 31 July 2026 at the Martyr Major General Wissam Al-Hassan Barracks in Dbayeh for a number of officers and non-commissioned officers who completed a Tactical Weapons training course under the supervision of U.S. experts from the Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Program. The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Mobile Forces Unit, Brigadier General Tony Matta, with the participation of the United States Ambassador, Mr. Michel Issa, and the Head of the Information Branch, Brigadier General Mahmoud Qobrosli. The event featured a documentary presentation highlighting the different stages of the training course, followed by the presentation of certificates to the graduates. The ceremony concluded with a cocktail reception and a commemorative photo session.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: Following information received by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces concerning an unidentified individual who had been terrorizing citizens in the Halba area of Akkar District, assaulting passers-by, insulting them, threatening them with a dagger, forcibly entering homes, and destroying their contents, the Branch launched an investigation. His most recent assault occurred on July 15, 2026, when he forcibly entered a house in the town of Al-Qanbar, Akkar, and assaulted a citizen and his pregnant wife. The attack caused her to suffer severe bleeding and resulted in a miscarriage. The competent units of the Information Branch immediately initiated field and intelligence operations to identify and arrest the perpetrator. Following inquiries and investigations, they identified him as: A. T. (born in 1997, Lebanese), against whom a judgment had been issued for discharging a firearm and transporting military-grade weapons and ammunition. On the same date, after careful surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the Branch carried out a well-planned ambush in the aforementioned town and arrested him less than 24 hours after he had committed his latest assault. During questioning, he confessed to the allegations against him. The necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority pursuant to the instructions of the competent judiciary.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to pursue and arrest individuals involved in drug-related crimes, and within the security plan established by the Judicial Police Unit to combat this scourge and curb its spread, airport customs officers seized, on June 26, 2026, a postal parcel containing 4.5 kg of Captagon pills professionally concealed inside a child’s bed. The shipment was intended to be smuggled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a shipping company. The Central Narcotics Control Bureau consequently launched the necessary inquiries and investigations, while analysing the available technical data, in order to identify and arrest those involved. As a result of the investigations, the sender of the parcel was located in the Riad El-Solh area of Beirut. On June 29, 2026, a patrol from the Bureau arrested him. He was identified as: R. A. (born in 1983, Lebanese) Further investigations and close follow-up led to the foiling of another smuggling operation. A quantity of 6.5 kg of Captagon pills, which had been prepared for shipment to Kuwait through a shipping company and concealed inside children’s beds, was seized. Coordination was also conducted with the General Department for Drug Control in Kuwait through the Criminal Security Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon. This resulted in the arrest of one of the individuals involved in Kuwait and the seizure of a quantity of narcotics in his possession. The necessary legal measures were taken against the detainee. Efforts are ongoing, in coordination with the competent judiciary, to arrest the remaining individuals involved.
