Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division The following statement: As part of the ongoing efforts carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes, particularly forgery crimes across various Lebanese regions, and to arrest their perpetrators, information was obtained by the Information Branch about an unidentified person forging real estate documents with the aim of selling a property in the locality of Halat – Jbeil. As a result of investigations and inquiries, the person who was processing the property ownership transfer request at the real estate departments was arrested, and the forged document was seized in his possession. He was identified as: Sh. H. (born in 1987, Lebanese) During the investigation, he stated that he had fallen victim to fraud by the individual identified as: J. Gh. (born in 1982, Lebanese), who has a criminal record for forgery offenses. Further follow-up revealed that the property deed had also been forged through the use of a fake identity in the name of the property owner, and that the ownership had first been transferred to J. Gh., and then to Sh. H., noting that the property owner had not sold the property. After a precise surveillance and monitoring operation, one of the Branch’s patrols arrested J. Gh. in Jbeil while he was in his vehicle, which was seized. Upon searching him and the vehicle, a sum of money was found in his possession. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him, namely that he, in coordination with another person with a criminal record for forgery and fraud offenses, had forged the identity of the property owner and the title deed without her knowledge, and then sold the property to Sh. H. When the latter attempted to register the property at the real estate departments, it was revealed that the deed was invalid. The necessary legal measures were taken against J. Gh., and he was referred, along with the seized items, to the competent authority, pursuant to the order of the competent judiciary. Efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplice.
