Rehabilitation of the Minieh Police Station building within the Regional Gendarmerie Unit with support from the Government of Canada and the United Nations Development Programme.

As part of the cooperation and partnership between the Government of Canada, the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Internal Security Forces, and with the aim of supporting public institutions in Lebanon and enhancing their capacity to respond and remain resilient in the face of growing challenges and crises, the Minieh Police Station of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit was rehabilitated by the UNDP with funding from the Government of Canada.

On 18/05/2026, the Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon and Syria, Mr. Gregory Galligan, accompanied by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Blerta Aliko, visited the aforementioned station. They were received by the Commander of the North Regional Area, Brigadier General Mostafa Badran, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Interior and local authorities.

During the visit, the participants toured the station and met with officers, non-commissioned officers, and local officials. The discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening security services and enhancing cooperation between institutions and local authorities. They also addressed the key role played by the Internal Security Forces in supporting the residents of Minieh, contributing to security and stability, and preserving civil peace.

This initiative comes as part of efforts to improve accessibility to the station building and upgrade its facilities, in addition to providing a more suitable working environment for ISF personnel, thereby enhancing the quality of services delivered to the community. The station’s personnel were also provided with vehicles and logistical equipment in support of their assigned duties.

Caught in flagrante delicto, the Information Branch arrests a man circulating counterfeit currency in Akkar.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division: As part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces units to combat crimes across various Lebanese regions, including fraud operations and the circulation of counterfeit currency, the Information Branch obtained information regarding an unidentified individual promoting counterfeit money in the town of Mishmish and several towns in the Joumeh area and neighboring regions in Akkar District. Accordingly, the competent units within the aforementioned Branch initiated field and intelligence procedures to identify and arrest the suspect. As a result of investigations and inquiries, his identity was identified as: M. Y. (born in 2002, Lebanese) On 15/05/2026, following precise surveillance and monitoring operations, one of the Branch’s patrols managed to arrest him in flagrante delicto while he was circulating counterfeit currency in the town of Mishmish. A search conducted on him led to the seizure of USD 900 in counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills. The suspect, along with the seized counterfeit money, was handed over to the competent authority for the necessary legal action based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.

Detonation of explosive objects and shells before noon tomorrow, Thursday, in the Wata El-Joz field.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division: Starting from 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, 21/05/2026, until completion on the same date, experts from the Explosives Bureau will carry out the destruction and controlled detonation of explosive objects and shells in the Wata El-Joz field – Keserwan. Multiple explosion sounds are expected to be heard in the area and its surroundings. Therefore, citizens are requested to take note and avoid approaching the area for their own safety.

The Bekaa Investigation Division arrested two individuals who attempted to steal a vehicle through fraud in order to sell it and flee the country.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division: As part of the continuous efforts undertaken by the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces to combat crimes and arrest perpetrators throughout Lebanese territory, information was obtained on 16/05/2026 by the Bekaa Investigation Division of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit regarding two Syrian nationals planning to rent a vehicle using a forged identity card in preparation for fraudulently selling it and then leaving Lebanese territory. Immediately, the aforementioned division launched field operations to identify and arrest the suspects. As a result of close monitoring and surveillance, one of its patrols arrested them in the town of Chtaura. They are: H. K. (born in 2002, Syrian national) R. A. (born in 1995, Syrian national) The latter had rented a Hyundai vehicle from the town of Sultan Yacoub using an identity card belonging to another Syrian woman after disguising herself with a niqab, with the aim of stealing and selling the vehicle. It was later found that the detainee R. A. was active in prostitution activities. The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owners, while the two detainees were handed over to the competent unit in order to take the necessary legal measures against them, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.

They were promoting drugs in Mount Lebanon, and the Information Branch arrested them in flagrante delicto and seized a quantity of narcotics.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division: As part of the daily efforts carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat drug trafficking and promotion operations across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained information about two individuals involved in promoting narcotic substances in Mount Lebanon areas, particularly in the Metn district. Accordingly, the competent units within the Branch initiated field and intelligence procedures to identify and arrest the two suspects. Following investigations and inquiries, their identities were determined as follows: H. Y. (born in 2005, Syrian) H. A. (born in 2008, Syrian female) On 06/05/2026, after a precise surveillance and monitoring operation, one of the Branch’s patrols arrested them in flagrante delicto in the Bourj Hammoud area while they were promoting drugs aboard a gray “Sweet” motorcycle without license plates, which was seized. A search of the suspects and the motorcycle led to the seizure of: Two envelopes containing cannabis resin Two envelopes containing marijuana A box containing “crystal” substance One hashish cigarette An amount of money and two mobile phones During interrogation, they confessed to the charges against them. The necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authority based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.
