Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, the following statement:

On 28-02-2026, (M.M., 40 years old) was found dead inside his home in the Bar Elias area, following a fire that broke out in the house.
After follow-up and examination of the body by a forensic doctor, it was determined that the victim had been struck forcefully on the head with a sharp object, in addition to fractures in the cervical vertebrae that led to his death. The burns occurred after death and were not the cause of it.

Immediately, the competent units of the Internal Security Forces began field and intelligence procedures to uncover the circumstances of the murder, identify the perpetrator, and arrest him. As a result of investigations conducted by the Information Branch, it was revealed that the victim’s wife (H.Z., born in 2001, Syrian nationality) was in a relationship with another man. They were suspected of involvement in carrying out the murder. The suspect is:

B.M. (born in 1989, Lebanese)

On 11-03-2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, patrols of the branch arrested both suspects in the Bar Elias area.

During interrogation, B.M. confessed that after the victim discovered his relationship with the victim’s wife, he went to the victim’s house in Bar Elias. A fight broke out between them, during which he struck the victim on the head with a sharp object, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground. This led to a gas heater overturning and a fire breaking out inside the house, after which he left the scene.

The wife stated that she was not present at the house at the time of the crime, and that B.M. called her by phone and informed her of what had happened, but she did not report him.

Legal measures were taken against both of them, and they were referred to the competent judicial authority based on the direction of the relevant judiciary.
