He impersonated an employee of the United Nations, then—together with his two accomplices—held a couple captive inside the bathroom of their home and stole jewelry and a sum of money. The Information division arrested them.

The following statement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division:

On 5-12-2025, citizen N. N. (born in 1952) reported that an unknown individual entered his home in the Sad al-Bouchrieh area, impersonating an employee of the United Nations. The individual then brandished a military handgun, detained him and his wife inside the bathroom, and proceeded to steal a bag containing jewelry worth fifty thousand US dollars and a sum of four thousand US dollars in cash.

Immediately, the competent units of the Internal Security Forces initiated their procedures at the scene of the incident and its surroundings. As a result of technical and intelligence follow-up, the Information division was able, within a few hours, to identify those involved in the robbery. They are:

  • R. Y. (born in 1967, Lebanese), a relative of the complainant.

  • H. D. (born in 1970, Lebanese).

  • H. S. (born in 1961, Syrian), with prior convictions for theft.

On 6-12-2025, following careful surveillance and monitoring, patrols from the branch succeeded in locating the aforementioned individuals and carried out simultaneous arrest operations. The first was arrested in Zalka while driving a Volkswagen vehicle; USD 3,740 and a quantity of the stolen jewelry were seized from him. The second was arrested in the Sin El-Fil area, and USD 500 was seized from him. The third was arrested in the Naba’a area while riding the motorcycle used in the theft; counterfeit banknotes, a black cap, and a plastic pistol (used in the robbery) were seized from him.

During interrogation, they confessed to the charges against them, stating that they had divided the stolen cash among themselves, that the first suspect had disposed of only two pieces of jewelry by selling them to two shops in the Bourj Hammoud area, and that the money seized from him was the proceeds of the sold jewelry. They also stated that the vehicle he was driving at the time of arrest had been purchased with the stolen money. The remaining stolen jewelry was recovered from him.

The seized jewelry was returned to the complainant, and the vehicle and motorcycle were judicially impounded. The necessary legal measures were taken against the detainees, who were referred to the competent authority based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.

The Information Branch arrested a person in flagrante delicto while attempting to snatch a citizen’s handbag in the al-Tell area of Tripoli.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, the following statement: As part of the daily efforts carried out by the units of the Internal Security Forces to combat various crimes and arrest perpetrators, particularly theft and snatching, a patrol from the Information Branch managed to arrest a suspect in flagrante delicto while attempting to steal a handbag belonging to a citizen in the al-Tell area of Tripoli. He was identified as: H. K. (born in 2001, Syrian national) The suspect was handed over to the concerned unit to take the necessary legal measures against him, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

They stole an amount of money and gold jewelry worth approximately $50,000 USD, then burned the house furniture and fled. The Information Branch arrested two of them and seized 40 kilograms of cannabis.

The following statement was issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division: On 25-03-2026, unknown individuals broke into the home of (A. Sh., born in 1966, Lebanese) located in the Minyeh area. They stole from a safe an amount of approximately $30,000 USD, gold jewelry worth around $20,000 USD, and military pistols. They then set the house furniture on fire and fled to an unknown destination. Following this, the competent units of the Internal Security Forces initiated field and intelligence procedures to identify and arrest those involved in the theft. As a result of investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch was able within hours to identify them, including: M. Sh. (born in 1984, Lebanese) On 26-03-2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the branch’s patrols arrested him in the Minyeh area. During interrogation, he confessed to the charges, admitting that he, along with three others, carried out the theft. He stated that his accomplices kept the stolen items and hid the pistols with (H. F., born in 1996, Syrian). He also added that he was hiding more than 40 kg of cannabis in an abandoned house above his place of residence, where it was subsequently seized. On the same date, the latter was arrested in the Minyeh area, and during interrogation, he also confessed to the charges against him. Legal measures were taken against both, and they, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authority based on judicial instruction. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.

The Information Branch dismantles a network that attempted to carry out a kidnapping for extortion.

Issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, the following statement: As part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces to combat crime, the Information Branch obtained intelligence regarding a failed kidnapping attempt targeting a citizen (K.A.) as he was leaving a sports club in Tripoli. A masked individual exited a black Mercedes vehicle carrying four individuals and pointed a military-grade handgun at him; however, the victim managed to escape. Immediately, specialized units from the Information Branch initiated field and intelligence measures. As a result of follow-up investigations, the identity of one of the suspects was established: – E.F. (born in 1999, Lebanese), who was inside the vehicle used in the operation. On 02-04-2026, following surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the branch apprehended him in the town of Dahr El Ain – Koura, and seized a military handgun in his possession. The masked individual who had brandished the weapon was also arrested and identified as S.A.H. During interrogation, both initially denied the charges but later confessed to carrying out the attempted kidnapping at the instigation of: – A.R. (born in 1983, Lebanese), in collaboration with another individual of Syrian nationality, identified as A.K., who was the planner and organizer of the operation. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the latter two suspects. The detainees confessed that the objective of the kidnapping attempt was to extort money from the victim’s father. It was also revealed that A.R. has a criminal record and is the subject of 12 outstanding judicial warrants. The necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the competent judicial authority in accordance with judicial instructions.
