The Bekaa investigation unit arrested the owner of a ready-made peeled potato factory and sealed the factory with red wax for violating food safety standards.

As part of the ongoing monitoring conducted by the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces to address various violations throughout Lebanon and apprehend perpetrators, including those related to food safety, On February 2, 2026, a force from the Bekaa Investigation Detachment of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit, in the presence of a representative from the Ministry of Health, raided a factory in the Qab Elias plain that was selling garlic and peeled, ready-to-eat potatoes. The inspection revealed that the factory was unlicensed and did not meet health standards. It was using water of unknown origin and processing garlic and potatoes (soaking, peeling, and cutting) using improper methods, posing a risk to food safety. Furthermore, the workers were not adhering to hygiene and food safety procedures, and wastewater was being discharged in a manner that polluted the environment. This raid resulted in the arrest of the factory owner, identified as: – W. J. (Born in 1994, Syrian) The detainee was handed over to the relevant department to carry out the necessary legal action against him, and the factory was sealed with red wax, after more than 3.9 tons of peeled garlic and 2.4 tons of peeled and cut potatoes were seized inside it, all of which did not meet health requirements. They were destroyed in the landfill belonging to the municipality of Qab Elias in accordance with health standards, in the presence of a representative from the Ministry of Health, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.

Following intensive investigations and inquiries, the branch identified him as: A.M. (born in 1990, Lebanese), subject to an arrest warrant for drug-related offenses. On 21-03-2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the branch’s patrols arrested him in flagrante delicto in the Bourj Hammoud area while he was distributing drugs aboard a black Mercedes vehicle, which was seized. Upon searching him and the vehicle, the following were found: 46 plastic containers containing cocaine labeled with various markings (TNT - VIP - X - B - AJ) 90 counterfeit US dollars A mobile phone and sums of money in different currencies During interrogation, he confessed to the charges against him.Legal procedures were carried out against him, and he, along with the seized items, was referred to the competent authority based on the instructions of the relevant judiciary.

The Internal Security Forces remind the relatives of those missing as a result of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon to attend and provide DNA samples to help identify the victims

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: Further to our previous statement regarding facilitating the identification of missing, unidentified victims or human remains, the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces reminds the relatives of the missing, the the need for them to attend daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at one of the incident offices التابعة to the Judicial Police Unit in the governorates, in order to provide the necessary samples for DNA testing, which contributes to identifying the victims or remains. Please bring one of the following identification documents (passport, family civil registry extract, or identity card). It is preferable that two relatives from the direct ascendants or descendants (father, mother, children) be present. If this is not possible, they may be siblings. The Internal Security Forces begin pursuing those responsible for gunfire and rocket-propelled projectiles in the southern suburbs.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: Following the announcement of the ceasefire, heavy gunfire was reported in several neighborhoods of the southern suburbs, in addition to the إطلاق of rocket-propelled projectiles. Immediately, the competent units of the Internal Security Forces initiated field measures to identify those responsible for the gunfire and to pursue and arrest them, in preparation for taking the necessary legal actions against them based on the instructions of the judiciary. The General Directorate affirms that it will not tolerate any breach of security and public order, and calls on citizens to refrain from firing weapons under any circumstances, due to the danger this phenomenon poses to public safety.

Traffic measures for three days in the Zokak El-Blat area due to maintenance works on rainwater drainage openings.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following: A contracting company will carry out maintenance works on rainwater drainage openings (“regards”) in the Zokak El-Blat area – at the intersection of Zokak El-Blat Mosque toward Husseiniyat Al-Zahraa, starting from 6:00 p.m. on 17-04-2026 until 7:00 a.m. on 20-04-2026. These works will lead to the closure of the road in the area, with traffic being diverted to Judge Al-Kasti Street. Citizens are requested to take note and comply with the instructions and guidance of the Internal Security Forces personnel, as well as with directional traffic signs, in order to prevent congestion.
