The following statement was issued:
A video clip of an interview conducted during a television program is being circulated on social media, in which the sister of inmate K. M. (born in 1975, Lebanese) made fabricated accusations regarding the alleged mistreatment of her brother by members of the Internal Security Forces, in addition to a series of inaccurate claims.
The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces wishes to clarify the following:
The aforementioned inmate had previously been admitted to prison several times during the years 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2018. His most recent admission was on 06-12-2021. Several judgment summaries have been issued against him, sentencing him to ten years of imprisonment, in addition to dozens of judicial warrants issued by the competent judiciary.
He has committed several criminal acts and violations inside prisons, documented in 17 reports, most notably: riots, setting fire inside Qobbeh Prison, kidnapping military personnel, assault and battery, death threats, detaining inmates, imposing extortion payments, smuggling prohibited items, possessing mobile phones, self-inflicted cutting, vandalism inside prison, indecent acts, etc.
This required his transfer, on more than one occasion, to several prisons for disciplinary reasons, namely: Zahle, Baalbek, Jbeil, Jezzine, Jeb Jennine, Qobbeh, Roumieh, and Amioun.
The latest of these measures took place on 06-01-2026, when K. M., while in Jeb Jennine Prison, attempted to smuggle prohibited items and bribe one of the officers. On 07-01-2026, he also went on a hunger strike. After ending his strike, he was transferred to Jbeil Prison in consideration of his family situation and to facilitate communication with his relatives.
On 02-06-2026, he inflicted cuts on himself, and was therefore transferred for disciplinary reasons to Zahle Prison, where he repeated the same act. He was then transferred for disciplinary reasons to Baalbek Prison, and subsequently to Batroun Prison.
The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces affirms that the measures taken against the aforementioned inmate were carried out within the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, with the aim of maintaining order inside prisons, ensuring the safety of inmates and personnel assigned to guard duty, and preventing the smuggling of prohibited items or the commission of any violations or criminal acts inside detention facilities.
It also affirms that it will not tolerate any attempt to distort the image of the institution or slander its members through fabricated news or unsubstantiated allegations, and that it reserves its right to file a legal claim against the sister of the aforementioned inmate.
The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat motorcycle thefts across Lebanon, the Information Branch obtained information about two unidentified individuals involved in motorcycle thefts in the Haret el-Naameh area, the most recent of which occurred on 11 August 2026. Following this information, the Branch’s specialized units launched field and intelligence operations to identify and arrest the two suspects. Investigations led to their identification as: A. A. (born in 2004, Lebanese national); S. D. F. (born in 2005, Palestinian national). On 13 August 2026, following close surveillance and monitoring, a Branch patrol arrested both suspects in the Haret el-Naameh area. A search of the suspects resulted in the seizure of two utility knives, a booklet of rolling papers, and a quantity of hashish. During questioning, both suspects admitted to the allegations against them and confessed to carrying out several motorcycle thefts in Haret el-Naameh. The necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred, together with the seized items, to the competent authority pursuant to judicial instructions.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: On 19 August 2026, A. A. (born in 1989, Lebanese national) reported to Dahr el-Baidar Police Station that he had been robbed of US$8,000 belonging to the medical equipment company he works for in the Bwarej area. Following an investigation conducted by Dahr el-Baidar Police Station, it was established that no robbery had taken place. When confronted with the information and evidence gathered, he admitted that he had stolen the money himself and hidden it at his home in Hammana, before reporting a false robbery to the police in an attempt to cover up the theft. A patrol from Dahr el-Baidar Police Station proceeded to Hammana and searched his residence, where the full amount of the stolen money was recovered. He was arrested pursuant to the instructions of the competent judicial authority, and the entire amount was returned to the owner of the company.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat various forms of crime, the Mount Lebanon Investigation Detachment of the Territorial Gendarmerie Unit received information about two individuals suspected of stealing sums of money, bicycles, and gas cylinders from several homes in the Salima – Baabda area. Following extensive investigations and close monitoring, a patrol from the Detachment arrested the two suspects in the aforementioned area while they were riding a white motorcycle without a license plate. Both suspects were found to be minors. They were identified as: A. A. (born in 2010, Syrian national); W. F. (born in 2009, Lebanese national). The two detained minors and the motorcycle were handed over to the competent unit for the necessary legal action, pursuant to the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat various forms of crime, the Information Branch obtained information about a gang involved in burglaries targeting homes and commercial establishments by breaking and entering in several areas of the Mount Lebanon Governorate. Following this information, the Branch’s specialized units launched field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the gang members. Extensive investigations revealed that the gang members used a Kia Picanto to carry out their burglaries. The Branch also succeeded in identifying several members of the gang, including: J. A. (born in 1986, Syrian national) J. M. (born in 1988, Syrian national). On 5 August 2026, following close surveillance and monitoring, a Branch patrol arrested the first suspect in the Sehayleh area. During questioning, he admitted to the allegations against him. He confessed that, in coordination with the second suspect and accompanied by another individual who remains at large, he had carried out numerous break-ins and burglaries targeting offices and commercial establishments in several areas of the Mount Lebanon Governorate, particularly in Metn and Kesrouan, including Jdeideh and Zouk Mosbeh. It was also established that he had entered Lebanon illegally. The second suspect also admitted to the allegations against him and acknowledged that he had agreed with the first suspect to receive a sum of money in exchange for participating in the burglaries. The mobile phone he used to coordinate with the first suspect was also seized. The necessary legal measures were taken against both detainees. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the burglaries.
