The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to pursue individuals involved in drug smuggling and distribution, and within the framework of the security plan implemented by the Judicial Police Unit to combat the scourge of drugs and curb their spread, the Central Anti-Narcotics Bureau received information about a Nigerian national suspected of smuggling cocaine into Lebanon through the airport by swallowing it in capsule form. The suspect had entered Lebanese territory at dawn on 14 August 2026. Following extensive investigations conducted by the Bureau’s patrols, as well as the collection and cross-checking of intelligence, officers succeeded in locating the suspect at a hotel in the Hamra area. Bureau patrols were then instructed to place him under close surveillance with a view to arresting him. On 16 August 2026, a Bureau unit raided his place of stay and arrested him in a surprise operation. He was identified as: I. S. (born in 1984, Nigerian national). Officers seized 78 capsules containing cocaine, with a total weight of 1.8 kg, from his possession. The necessary legal measures were taken against the suspect, who was referred, together with the seized narcotics, to the competent judicial authority.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to track down wanted individuals and combat drug dealing across Lebanon, the Mount Lebanon Investigation Detachment of the Territorial Gendarmerie Unit received information about an individual dealing drugs in Jounieh from a black Kia Rio. Following this information, a patrol from the Detachment proceeded to the area. After close surveillance and monitoring, officers arrested the suspect while he was inside the aforementioned vehicle. He was identified as: H. R. (born in 1994, Lebanese national). A search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of: 3 packets of marijuana, including one large packet; 9 packets of hashish; 15 packets, each containing a white narcotic substance; 8 medium-sized sealed plastic containers containing a white narcotic substance; 6 medium-sized unsealed plastic containers containing a white narcotic substance; 4 small sealed plastic containers containing a white narcotic substance; One small unsealed plastic container containing a white narcotic substance; A sum of money and a mobile phone. The detainee, the seized items and narcotics, and the vehicle were handed over to the competent unit for the necessary legal action, pursuant to the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat theft and fraud across Lebanon, the Information Branch obtained information about an unidentified individual selling fake gold jewelry in various areas of Mount Lebanon, particularly in the Metn region. Following this information, the Branch’s specialized units intensified their field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the suspect. Investigations led to his identification as: M. Kh. (born in 2003, Syrian national). On 10 August 2026, following close surveillance and monitoring, a Branch patrol caught him red-handed in Nahr el-Mot while he was selling a quantity of fake gold jewelry to an individual for US$10,000. The suspect was accompanied by another individual, who fled with the money to an unknown location. Officers also seized 108 fake gold bracelets. During questioning, the suspect admitted to the allegations against him. The necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred, together with the seized items, to the competent authority pursuant to judicial instructions. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the second individual involved.

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: First – Jounieh On 30 August 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., a running race will take place in Jounieh. The following traffic measures will be implemented: Traffic coming from Maameltein toward the KFC roundabout will be diverted uphill toward the Stadium Bridge – highway. Traffic heading downhill toward the souk will be diverted uphill toward Abou Ter. Traffic heading toward Chir – Malak Al Tawouk will be diverted toward the Zouk power plant. Traffic heading toward Notre Dame du Liban Hospital will be diverted uphill toward Sarba – highway. Traffic at the roundabout at the entrance to the Jounieh Serail will be diverted toward the Civil Defense – Sarba Bridge – highway. Second – Nahr el-Mot and Baabdat On 30 August 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the Lebanese Cycling Federation will organize the 2026 Zadorian Brothers Cup on the Metn Expressway between Nahr el-Mot and Baabdat, with the finish line at the Broummana intersection. The route will be closed to traffic from 6:30 a.m. until the race is over. Citizens are kindly requested to comply with the instructions of Internal Security Forces personnel and the traffic signs installed at the aforementioned locations to facilitate traffic flow and prevent congestion.
