After Stealing a Motorcycle in Dekwaneh, the Beirut Investigation Unit Tracked Down and Arrested the Suspect in Zoqaq El Blat

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat crime and pursue individuals who threaten public security, a video has been circulating on social media showing an individual stealing a motorcycle in the Dekwaneh area by distraction.

Following intensive intelligence gathering and investigations conducted by the Beirut Investigation Unit to identify and apprehend the perpetrator, one of the unit’s patrols located and placed the suspect under surveillance in the Zoqaq El Blat area. A swift raid led to his arrest. He was identified as:

A. A. (born in 2004, Syrian national).

During interrogation and after being confronted with the evidence, the suspect confessed to the theft. He admitted that he had targeted the motorcycle while it was displayed for sale in front of a commercial shop, taking advantage of the shop owner’s distraction before riding away on it.

The stolen motorcycle was recovered and returned to its lawful owner. The suspect, along with the seized evidence, was referred to the competent authority for the necessary legal proceedings, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

Gang Behind Theft and Robbery Operations in Beirut and Mount Lebanon: Information Branch Arrests Two of Its Members

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the daily efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces to combat crime, particularly theft and armed robbery across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained information regarding a gang involved in carrying out theft and armed robbery operations in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Accordingly, the specialized units of the Branch launched field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the suspects. Following extensive investigations, the Branch identified several members of the gang, including: B. Q. (born in 1995, Lebanese) R. A. (born in 2006, Lebanese) Following a precise surveillance and monitoring operation, one of the Branch's patrols arrested the two suspects in Aramoun while they were aboard a white Kia Forte, which was seized after it was found to have been used in the theft and robbery operations. Identification documents belonging to several individuals were also seized. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to participating, together with a third accomplice, in carrying out numerous armed robberies targeting individuals and motorcycles in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, including in BIEL, Costa Brava, and Ramlet El Baida. They admitted using the seized vehicle during the crimes and stated that the second suspect was responsible for disposing of the stolen property. The necessary legal measures were taken against the suspects, who were referred, together with the seized items, to the competent judicial authority in accordance with judicial instructions. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the third suspect involved.

Ghazir Police Station, in Coordination with the Dahr El Baidar Checkpoint, Arrests a Female Suspect for Theft from a Bag in Nahr El Kalb and Recovers the Full Amount

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: A man identified as M. Sh. filed a complaint with the Ghazir Police Station against Z. Y., accusing her of stealing US$11,435 after he had met her at a nightclub in the Nahr El Kalb area. After leaving the venue at approximately 3:00 a.m., he discovered that she had stolen the money from his bag and fled. Following information indicating that the suspect might be heading to the Bekaa, coordination was established with the Dahr El Baidar checkpoint, where she was arrested at around 11:00 a.m. on the same day. A patrol from the Ghazir Police Station subsequently raided her residence, where the stolen cash was found hidden inside the house. During questioning, she confessed to the theft. She was arrested, and the recovered money was returned to its owner, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judicial authority.

The Information Branch Arrests a Theft and Robbery Gang in Bchamoun and Seizes Military Weapons and Ammunition

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the Internal Security Forces' daily efforts to combat crime, particularly theft and armed robbery across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained intelligence regarding a gang involved in carrying out theft and robbery operations in the Mount Lebanon area. Accordingly, the specialized units of the Information Branch initiated field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the suspects. Following extensive investigations and inquiries, the Branch identified the two members of the gang as: H. Q. (born in 1999, Lebanese), with a criminal record involving arms trafficking. M. M. (born in 2004, Lebanese). In a targeted operation, one of the Branch's patrols arrested the two suspects in the Bchamoun area while they were riding a gray Yamaha NMAX motorcycle without registration plates, which was seized. A search of the suspects and the motorcycle resulted in the seizure of: Four military pistols, five magazines, 73 rounds of live ammunition, and military equipment. Five PAXERA tablets. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the offenses attributed to them. The necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred, together with the seized items, to the competent judicial authority upon the instructions of the competent judiciary.

Traffic Measures in Aley, Ballouneh, and Baalbek from 2 to 4 August 2026 for Sporting Events and Religious Commemorations

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: First – Aley: From 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on 2 August 2026, the ALEY RIDE CLUB will organize a cycling tour through the neighborhoods and streets of the city of Aley. Second – Ballouneh: From 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on 2 August 2026, the Second Speed Race will take place in Ballouneh. Third – Baalbek: Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on 2 August 2026 and until the conclusion of the Arbaeen commemoration ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the road surrounding the Sayyida Khawla Shrine will be closed in both directions, from the Hajar Al-Habla intersection to the Palmyra intersection. In addition, from 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 3 August 2026, until the end of the Arbaeen ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the following roads will be closed: The eastern carriageway of the Riyaq–Baalbek International Highway, from Al-Munzer Sweets in Riyaq to the Al-Jabli intersection. The eastern carriageway of the Baalbek–Hermel Road, from the Harbata intersection to the Al-Jabli intersection. Traffic between Riyaq and Baalbek, and between Baalbek and Hermel, will be diverted to the western carriageway in both directions. Vehicles traveling from Riyaq toward Baalbek will be redirected through the town of Douris via the Shamsine Bakeries intersection and the Douris intersection. Citizens are kindly requested to comply with the instructions of Internal Security Forces personnel and with the traffic signs placed in the above-mentioned areas in order to facilitate traffic flow and prevent congestion.
