At the end of World War I, the French officers created the detachment
A school for officers and non-commissioned officers was transferred to the Lebanese Gendarmerie in Baabda, then it was transferred in 1920 to Betdin. A library was established attached to the school, full of useful administrative, historical, and scientific literature. Officers and soldiers used to read it in exchange for a monthly subscription deducted from their salary, and the value of these subscriptions bought new books to be added to the library. Then to the Barbar al-Khazen barracks in Verdun, which contained many Arabic and French books. The library later transferred. It did not witness any noticeable development until after securing its headquarters in the Emile Al-Helou barracks in 1997. Two branch libraries affiliated with it were established in Nabatieh and the North. Later, the library accommodates more than 14,000 books and many encyclopedias in Arabic, French, and English, including security, cultural, and literary languages.
