Driver under the Influence of Many Drugs Collides with a Person Riding a Motorcycle and Kills Him
The ISF Directorate General – Public Relations Department
issued the following notification:
Many road accidents cause deaths, injuries, material losses and serious damages to vehicles. It appeared that these accidents are caused by drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Therefore, the ISF Directorate General would like to remind drivers of the need to abide by the Traffic Law and to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and it assures that it is implementing provisions of Traffic Law violations, especially the aforementioned violation.
On 16/11/2017 on the eastern lane of Dbayeh highway/facing ABC mall, a Nissan driven by (K. A., D.O.B. 1988, Lebanese) collided with a motorcycle make Suzuki driven by (B. N. D.O.B. 1978, Lebanese) and a truck make Mitsubishi Hino driven by (M. M., D.O.B. 1979, Syrian) which caused the death of the motorcycle driver.
Interrogated by Jdeideh Judicial Brigade at the Territorial Gendarmerie, the car driver named K. A. admitted that he uses drugs which was proved by a lab test whereas it appeared that he uses heroin, cocaine, hashish and narcotic pills and that an arrest warrant is issued against him for a drug offense.
Six envelopes containing heroin and medical tools used to consume drugs that were inside his car were seized.
According to the car accident expert and the CCTV recordings, it appeared that the Nissan driver had caused the accident.
The suspect was arrested and a procès-verbal – category five fines - was issued against him.
The arrested person and the seized items were referred to the competent judicial authorities through the Central Drug Repression Bureau at the Judicial Police upon their request.
